اندثرت كلمة عربة من اللهجة التونسية وعوضتها كلمات من اللغات الأوروبية، نذكر منها (لحمل البضائع) الكرّيطة ذات العجلتين والكارّو ذو أربع عجلات ثم (لنقل الأشخاص) الكليص ذو العجلتين والكروسة ذات أربع عجلات.

الكِرِّيطَة من الاسبانية  carreta وكانت ترسم كَرَّيْتَة و كَرَّيْطَة (دوزي). وكلمة carreta الاسبانية تصغير لكلمة carro التي أعطتنا الكلمة الثانية (كارّو) وكلاهما أصله اللاتينية carrus بمعنى عربة ذات عجلات. 

أما كلمة كروسة فأصلها إما الفرنسية carosse أو، وهذا الأرجح، الإيطالية car(r)ozza من نفس الأصل اللاتيني carrus.

وكلمة كليص أرجح أنها من الاسبانية calessa من الفرنسية calèche (وكانت سابقا calege أو calesse) وأصلها الألمانية kalesche من التشيكية kolesa أو البولونية kolasa (أنظر الروسية колесо koleso بمعنى عجلة)

Karrousa, كروسة

Karrita, Karrou , Kalis, Karroussa. Ces mots d'origine européenne ont remplacé le mot arabe 'araba dans le dialecte tunisien. Les deux premiers servent au transport des marchandises: Karrita à deux roues et Karrou à quatre roues. Les deux derniers servent au transport des personnes: Kalis à deux roues et Karroussa à quatre roues.

Karrita vient de l'espagnol carreta, diminutif de carro, du latin carrus, véhicule à roues. Karroussa a pu être emprunté soit au français carrosse soit, plus probablement, à l'italien car(r)ozza, de la même origine latine que les deux premiers mots.

Kalis semble être un emprunt à l'espagnol calessa, du français calèche (initialement calege ou calesse), de l'allemand kalesche, du tchèque kolesa ou du polonais kolasa à rapprocher du russe колесо koleso au sens de roue.

Kalis, كليص

Karrita, Karrou, Kalis, Karroussa. These words were borrowed from European languages and have presumably replaced the Arabic word 'araba in the Tunisian dialect. The first two are for transporting goods: Karrita a two-wheel cart and Karrou a cart with four wheels. The last two are for transporting people: Kalis a two-wheel buggy and Karroussa a four-wheel carriage.
Karrita is from the Spanish carreta, a diminutive of carro, from the latin carrus, a wheeled vehicle. Karroussa was probably borrowed from the French carrosse or, more probably, from the Italian car(r)ozza, of the same latin root as the first two.
Kalis seems to be a broowing from the French  calèche (initially calege or calesse), from the German kalesche, from the Czech kolesa or the Polish kolasa (compare with the Russian колесо koleso meaning wheel).
